“Ultimately, we have something that profoundly changes the logic”welcomed Tuesday March 5 on franceinfo Pascal Canfin, Renew MEP, while the European Union agreed on Monday to make all packaging recyclable by 2030 and to ban single-use plastic containers in catering.

The MEP is delighted to have set certain “ambitious goals” despite intense lobbying: “There was enormous lobbying, it was the text of the Green Pact which was the most ‘lobbyed’ of the entire European mandate, because at every line, there is an industrial interest behind it”. “Companies lobbied offensively, to move towards more bulk, reuse, less waste, more recyclability. And others lobbied defensively, I regret that”continues Pascal Canfin.

The text concerns many everyday products. He cites in particular the end of “PFAS, the eternal pollutants present in take-out pizza boxes, by 2026”. “Everything that is packaging is intended to be drastically reduced and will be replaced by reuse or paper packaging. You can have ketchup in a bottle, and not in millions of individual pods”he explains.
