We couldn’t miss it. Congratulations and good night to the players of Montpellier Hérault Rugby!

Guess who has to sleep soundly this Monday morning and will most certainly sleep all day, or even all week: the Montpellier rugby players….It must be said: they won the Top 14 final on Friday, the city’s first title in rugby. And I think the party is not a strong enough word to describe what they made us live this weekend on social networks. Because, yes, obviously, in Montpellier, we know how to celebrate titles.

So it started with coach Philippe Saint-André trying to hide a beer that had just been given to him while he was live on television… Sébastien Chabal told him that he deserved it and that he can drink it in front of the camera, that we won’t blame him. Nice.

A few hours (and certainly a few beers) later around 6 a.m., the players sing their anthem in the streets of Paris

Still not in bed, at 9 a.m. in the hotel lobby

Result, what had to happen happened, when taking the train to go back to Montpellier and celebrate the title with the supporters, Mickael Capelli crashed. On the platform, instead of taking the left train, he took the right one and found himself alone in his TGV, direction Lyon. And missed a little part of the party on the Place de la Comédie. Fortunately, the party continued very late in a straw hut by the sea… from which we were able to discover the images of the players sleeping with the shield of Brennus as a blanket. And only one survivor: Enzo Forletta.

We don’t know everything, of course. And fortunately. But, it is necessary to counterbalance this chronicle, by announcing to you, as a symbol, and not even a joke that Montpellier hosts the “Soft Festival”, the non-alcoholic beverages fair. And that will be good for everyone…
