(France 2)

Sylvain Maillard, outgoing president of the Renaissance group in the Assembly, was the guest of “4 Vérités” on France 2, Friday July 12.

It is one of the most coveted positions at the moment, but Sylvain Maillard is not a candidate for his own succession to the presidency of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly. Invited on the set of “4 Vérités”, Friday July 12, he confirmed that Gabriel Attal, the Prime Minister will probably be the only candidate for this position. “Yes, probably, the end of applications is Friday [12 juillet] at noon”he comments.

Although the names of Gérald Darmanin and Élisabeth Borne were circulated for a while, they did not submit their candidacies. “It is a choice that they made, especially in a choice of unity. We are in a difficult moment for France, we are looking for a coalition and we are working on it. It seems important to us that our group, which is the second largest group in the National Assembly (…) must be united and to be united, we need a single leadership,” continues the MP.
