The Russian army is gaining more and more ground in the Kharkiv region, in northeastern Ukraine. According to Vincent Desportes, former director of the War School, guest on Franceinfo’s 19/20, we could witness a turning point in the war in Ukraine.
The Russian army claimed the capture of several villages in the region of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, near the border with Russia. Putin ‘will go as far as he can go’
According to the Russian army, this incursion would aim to create a buffer zone on the border to prevent Ukraine from attacking Russia on its soil. “We are preparing for victory, Putin even believes in absolute victory, that is to say the capture of kyiv”explained Vincent Desportes. “He will go as far as he can go, only our Western determination will stop him”he concluded.
