Washington announces sending $275 million in arms to kyiv

This new aid shipment is the fifth authorized by the American president since the adoption of a $61 billion package at the end of April by Congress.

Ammunition, Himars rocket launcher system, vehicles, artillery shells, anti-tank weapons… Washington announced, Friday May 24, the sending of 275 million dollars in arms to kyiv in a press release from the State Department American. The weapons and equipment provided for in this new envelope are taken directly from United States military stocks.

Since May 10, Moscow has launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region from the border, seizing several localities and forcing the Ukrainian army to deploy valuable reinforcements in the area. This American military aid aims to stem the Russian advance, added the Secretary of State.

This shipment is the fifth authorized by President Joe Biden since the adoption of a $61 billion package at the end of April by Congress, after several weeks of blockage amid disputes between Republicans and Democrats. “Help from previous batches has already arrived at the front”specifies Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, before adding that the one announced Friday will be sent “as quickly as possible so that the Ukrainian army can use it to defend its territory and protect the Ukrainian people”.
