Targeted by an OQTF (obligation to leave French territory), Taha O., the suspect in the murder of the young Filipina, was however not deported. Should we see this as the consequence of an administrative and diplomatic imbroglio? At the heart of the questions, the consular pass essential for his expulsion. The French administration only requested it from Morocco on June 18, just two days before Taha O’s release from prison.
According to the Interior Ministry, the pass has “limited duration”. “If you ask for it too early, it may no longer be valid when you leave prison” of the suspect. According to Me Patrick Berdugo, lawyer specializing in foreigners’ law, the expulsion procedure was launched much too late. A government source acknowledges “vagueness in state services”. The pass will finally be issued by Morocco on September 4, the day after the release of Taha O.
