Washington will thus have supplied Kyiv with a total of 20 units of these multiple rocket launchers mounted on light armor after this new delivery, which will also include up to 500 Phoenix Ghost kamikaze drones, said John Kirby, spokesman for the House. -White on strategic issues.

Russia “launched deadly bombardments across the country, hitting malls, apartment buildings, killing innocent Ukrainian civilians,” John Kirby said.

“In the face of these atrocities, the President has made it clear that we will continue to support the Ukrainian government and its people for as long as necessary,” he added.

The highly mobile Himars fire GPS-guided missiles with a range of 80 kilometers, allowing Ukraine to hit previously out-of-range Russian targets.

The United States will also deliver 36,000 additional shells, John Kirby said.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov called on the West to provide significantly more precision artillery systems, saying his country would need “at least 100” Himars for an effective counteroffensive.
