Major military movements of Russian forces still seem to be taking a break, perhaps to reorganize operations and boost manpower. In the north of the country, in Kyiv and Kharkiv, as well as in the east, shelling and localized fighting continue.

Bombings and fighting

Observing a pause, the Russian forces continue “to prepare for a prolonged and frozen conflict”, estimated the American Institute for the study of the war. The Ukrainian army is carrying out “effective” counterattacks to relieve the capital, according to the Institute, but they are on a smaller scale than Kyiv claims.

Number of civilians killed in Kharkiv, in the northeast of the country, during a bombardment, according to the regional governor. Fifteen other people were injured in the strike which hit a post office, near which residents were receiving humanitarian aid.

Number of dead, including two children, during Russian strikes in Rubizhne, near Luhansk, in the east of the country. Six other people were injured during the attack, according to the governor of the region, Sergiï Gaïdaï.
