(Stockholm) Streaming music giant Spotify on Wednesday announced the closure of its offices in Russia and the removal of Russian state-sponsored content from its site.

The move is a response to “the unprovoked attack on Ukraine,” Spotify said in a statement.
“We have closed our offices in Russia until further notice,” the Stockholm-based, New York-listed company announced.
Separately, the streaming site said it reviewed “thousands of podcast episodes since the start of the war” and limited the possibility of finding podcasts owned or operated by Russian state-linked media.
Spotify said it had removed all content from RT and Sputnik media in the European Union and other markets earlier this week.
The company keeps its service open to Russian users.
“We believe it is of the utmost importance that our service be available in Russia in order to enable a global flow of information,” Spotify said.
