War in Ukraine: Moscow and kyiv are about to sign an agreement on Ukrainian grain exports

It is an agreement that could avert a global food crisis. After several weeks of negotiations, Russia and Ukraine are preparing, Friday, July 22, to sign a document allowing the resumption of Ukrainian grain exports blocked by the war. 200 million tonnes of wheat or barley, piled up in Ukrainian silos, will soon be transported anywhere in the world, thanks to the establishment of secure corridors on the Black Sea, and localized ceasefires on the passing areas.

“We welcome the announcement of this agreement in principle, but what matters to us now is that Russia implements this agreement and allows Ukrainian grain to reach world markets”said Ned Pricethe U.S. Department ofState. In exchange for this agreement, Vladimir Putin should obtain relief from the Western sanctions he has been asking for several days already. An agreement that removes the risk of famine weighing on several countries of the world, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, in Lebanon or even inEgypt.
