War in Ukraine: curfew in Kharkiv six months after the start of the war

On Wednesday August 24, the war in Ukraine continues and the city of Kharkiv has been put under curfew. “The streets of Karkiv are, this morning, completely deserted because a total curfew has been decreed by the authorities of this region”begins by describing Maryse Burgot. “This date of the 24th is extremely symbolic. It’s been exactly six months since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.”explains the journalist.

In Kharkiv, mattresses litter the floors of metro stations. The inhabitants took refuge in the basements of the city. “Many people continue to take refuge, especially today on this symbolic date. People who are often traumatized by the many bombings they have suffered. And for now, they remain here on this very symbolic day.”explains Maryse Burgot walking through a subway station.
