On New Year’s Eve, Ukraine was hit by a series of drones launched by Russia. A university and two statues representing figures of Ukrainian nationalism were targeted in Lviv, in the west of the country. In retaliation, kyiv targeted Donetsk, a city occupied by Moscow. Several people died in this exchange of strikes.

If violence increases in Ukraine, the rhetorical battle between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky is becoming more and more accentuated. “We will never go back”, hammered the Russian head of state during a televised speech. “Next year, the enemy will suffer the ravages of our domestic production”, replied his Ukrainian counterpart. This Monday 1er January, apartment buildings in Odessa, southern Ukraine, were targeted by Russian missiles.
