Voters of Saint-Henri–Sainte-Anne will go to the polls on March 13

The government of François Legault will call the by-election in the Montreal riding of Saint-Henri–Sainte-Anne on Monday, so that voters can choose their next MP on March 13. The Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) will also unveil its candidate for this race, Christopher Baenninger.

The announcement of the triggering of the additional ballot will be made at the end of a special meeting of the Council of Ministers. The information was first reported by VAT Newsthen confirmed by The duty. The constituency has been vacant since the departure of former Liberal leader Dominique Anglade on 1er last December.

Sunday evening, Radio-Canada reported that the Liberal Christopher Baenninger will try to be elected as MP for Saint-Henri–Sainte-Anne. In the elections of October 3, the president and founder of the marketing and communication agency NewBase Media finished second (15.85%) behind Québec solidaire co-spokesperson Manon Massé (47.69%) in Sainte-Marie–Saint-Jacques.

The PLQ candidate will face Guillaume Cliche-Rivard, who will wear the colors of solidarity. The candidacy of the immigration lawyer was announced on January 10 by the party. In the last general elections, Mr. Cliche-Rivard (27.72%) finished second behind Dominique Anglade (36.15%).

The president of the youth wing of the Coalition avenir Québec, Victor Pelletier, will also be in the race. The undergraduate student in communication and politics at the University of Montreal has been involved for about seven years with the party.
