Volodymyr Zelensky betrayed? Ukrainian president sacks prosecutor general and head of security services

While the Russians continue to bombard his country, Volodymyr Zelensky tries to preserve his national unity. The President of Ukraine took a drastic decision on Sunday July 17, 2022 by dismissing the Attorney General and the head of the country’s security services, due to suspicions of treason for the benefit of the Russians. “I have made the decision to relieve the Attorney General of their duties.Iryna Venediktova, “and the head of the security services” (SBU), Ivan Bakanov, said the Ukrainian head of state.

Orders notifying the dismissal of Ivan Bakanov, a childhood friend of the President of Ukraine, and Iryna Venediktova, who had filed charges for war crimes committed by the Russian army in Ukraine, were published on the website official of Volodymyr Zelensky. In a message posted on Telegram, the latter explains that he dismissed senior officials because of the collaboration with Russia of many members of their agencies. According to him, about 60 officials from the agencies of Bakanov and Venediktova are working against his country, in the territories occupied by Russia. It would be a total of 651 cases of treason and collaboration that would involve prosecutors and law enforcement officials.

For his part, Vladimir Putin is also wary of each of his collaborators. The head of the Kremlin is even suspicious of those close to him. Indeed, the former member of the KGB is convinced that someone will try to assassinate him. According to a Russian expert, the danger could even come very close. “I believe that if there is an assassination attempt, it could be from a woman“, suggests Nikolai Petrov to L’Express UK. The latter even claims that the assassination of the leader could be committed by “a member of his family, his mistress, his daughter, his ex-wife, someone who knows him and who could get closer to him“.
