Forty-eight hours after making some rather belligerent remarks about the West, Vladimir Putin gave his annual press conference.
It is a tradition from which Vladimir Putin did not deviate. Thursday, December 23, forty-eight hours after making belligerent remarks against the West, the Russian president held his annual press conference. “Vladimir Putin issued what looked like an ultimatum to the West by saying he wanted security guarantees for Russia now immediately while refusing to rule out the use of force“, reports correspondent Luc Lacroix. Currently, tens of thousands of Russian soldiers are massed on the Ukrainian border, raising fears of an invasion of the country by Russia in the West.
Vladimir Poutine wishes in particular the end of the enlargement to the east of NATO. Announcement of a future armed offensive or show of force to achieve better negotiation? For now, nothing has been stopped. The Russian president, however, positively welcomed the first American reactions to his requests. Negotiations should take place during the month of January 2022 with the Americans and NATO in Geneva. As a reminder, relations between Russia and the West had not been so bad since 2014, when Crimea was annexed.
