In a few days, you will elect the French MEPs who will sit in the European Parliament. There are currently 79 of them, divided into several groups which represent all sensitivities on the political spectrum. Which groups are most invested? Who are the least present? The eye of 20H has scrutinized the statistics of the European Parliament over the last five years.

In Brussels or Strasbourg, this is the most visible part of the work of MEPs: the plenary sessions dedicated to debates and to votes texts. Almost all parties have more than 90% participation in the votes.

At the top of the ranking: the Greens 96%. Followed by the Insoumis, the right and the Socialists. THEs less present: the elected representatives of the National Rally and those not registered with Reconquest elected representatives with only 81% participation.

Another criterion: work in the mysteries of 20 parliamentary committees. They deal with various areas: the fisheries commission, industry, or even women’s rights… This is where elected officials develop compromise texts: the reports.

The most productive in this exercise are the France insoumise elected representatives, members of the Left group: 3.7 reports on average per deputy. Followed by the elected representatives of the majority, 3.2 reports each. Then, the French socialists with 3 reports on average.

At the bottom of the table, we find the far-right elected officials who have produced virtually no reports.

Finally, as in the National Assembly and the French Senate, the elected representatives of the European Parliament have the right amendment. VSis the possibility of making changes to a text of law. During this last term, certain groups used it more than others. We analyzed the amendments tabled during the work in committee.

In first place, the French elected representatives of the majority at Renew: with 2,510 amendments on average per deputy. Puis, the Insoumis 2161 amendments tabled on average each; sfollowed by the socialists: 1689 amendments per deputy.

The least productive: the right-wing elected representatives of the European People’s Party, and the Reconquest deputies.

At the end of the vote on June 9, France will send 81 deputies to the European Parliament, which is two seats more than today.
