For twenty years, European leaders have been talking about the introduction of a “carbon tax” on products imported into the European Union. But the adoption of this measure met with another failure in Parliament on 8 June.
The carbon tax is a tax on products imported into the European Union that have released a large number of greenhouse gas emissions during their production.
Its aim is to encourage companies to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, encourage competitiveness, and bring new income to the EU.
On June 8, 2022, the European Parliament once again postponed the adoption of the carbon border tax, a measure provided for in the “climate package”, which aims to combat climate change.
