Thomas Brail stayed 11 days perched in a tree located on the Champ-de-Mars in Paris. He also started a hunger strike on June 4, to demand the implementation of actions to protect the forests. Brut questioned him.

“This action aims to raise awareness of the importance of properly managing our forests”. On May 30, Thomas Brail, founder of the national arms watchdog group, climbed to the top of a tree to demand better conditions for forests.

“We have nothing against the timber industry, but we can no longer afford to make clear cuts, take hectares and hectares of forest and leave with nothing. There is a massive loss of biodiversity, of animals, of habitat.”

After 11 days spent in the tree, and six without eating, Thomas suspended his hunger strike and obtained an appointment with Amélie de Montchalin, the Minister for Ecological Transition, and Marc Fesneau, the Minister for Agriculture.

This meeting should take place on June 20.“What we expect now and concretely from the two ministries is that there is a law that regulates the cuts in France. Today the trees are not protected and the forests are in danger.”
