VIDEO. Emmanuel Macron denies having been “trapped” by singing with passers-by in the street

The Head of State assumes. During his visit to Muttersholtz (Bas-Rhin), Emmanuel Macron returned to the videos showing him singing in the street after his speech, Monday April 17 in the evening. “You are President of the Republic, you are in the street, you have ten young people arriving. I don’t know them. I don’t know who is singing”, he defended himself. The sequence had been pinned by the opposition, who saw in it symbols of conservatives, even of the far right.

President Macron’s defense refers to the controversy surrounding the Canto application, used by the singers in this sequence: a newspaper investigation Release (article subscribers) indicated in November 2022 that one could find songs of the Third Reich there. The association behind this application relayed the video of the sequence, congratulating itself on having “blackmails a head of state”.

As a reminder: the scene took place in the 6th arrondissement of the capital, on a private time of the president, had assured the entourage of the president. Still according to these same sources, Emmanuel Macron and his wife were walking in the center of Paris when they were stopped by a group of young people singing. They offered him to sing “Le Refuge”, by Edmond Duplan, a Pyrenean song that Emmanuel Macron has already sung in public, his grandmother being from the Hautes-Pyrénées.
