“We worked a lot on the visual and sound to create a moment of spectacle like I would do in the theatre or the opera,” explains Thomas Jolly, artistic director of the Olympic and Paralympic Games ceremonies.

After more than two weeks of competition, the Olympic Games will officially end on Sunday, August 11, at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), during a closing ceremony that promises to be just as grandiose as the one organized for the opening on the Seine. Less than five days before the event, the organizers are gradually lifting the veil on France 2.

“We worked a lot on the visual and sound to create a moment of spectacle like I would do in the theater or at the opera”explains Thomas Jolly, the artistic mastermind behind the Olympic and Paralympic Games ceremonies. A hundred dancers and the Paris firefighters’ gymnastics team have been rehearsing in the greatest secrecy for several days. Several artists are expected to perform at the closing ceremony. The French groups Air and Phoenix are expected to play in the Dionysian venue.

During this ceremony, eyes will turn to Los Angeles, which is due to host the next Games in 2028. To pass the baton, Hollywood star Tom Cruise is expected. The actor was spotted this week, crisscrossing the streets of Paris on a motorbike.
