An octogenarian lost her life after being run over by a driver in Victoriaville, Centre-du-Québec, late Monday afternoon.

The accident took place on Boulevard des Bois-Francs, a wide street between two and four lanes wide that crosses the city of Victoriaville from one end to the other.
At around 6:30 p.m. Monday, the driver, a woman in her 30s, was driving north in the right lane when she struck an 89-year-old pedestrian. This one crossed the boulevard at a place without signage.
The victim was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver was treated on the spot by paramedics for a nervous shock, specifies Catherine Bernard, public relations officer for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Boulevard des Bois-Francs was closed to traffic.
A police officer specializing in collision investigation will travel to the scene to conduct an investigation in order to better understand the circumstances of the tragedy.
