This 8e number of Victor notebooks–Lévy Beaulieu, “Queering VLB. Read Beaulieu against Beaulieu? », the result of a study day in September 2021, sets out to analyze the essential work of the Trois-Pistoles writer based on queer theories, an approach which postulates that sexuality and gender of a individual are not determined exclusively by their biological sex, but also by their socio-cultural environment, their life history and/or their personal choices. It is in this sense that the often disturbing work of VLB, a source of “innumerable and dizzying contradictions”, appears particularly fertile. Under the direction of Karine Rosso and Kevin Lambert (who devoted part of his master’s degree in literature to the author of Jos Knowing), between a scatological analysis of gender in VLB (Kevin Lambert) and a joyful and tangent exploration of the links between sex and sovereignty in the Beaulieusian “work-character” (Dalie Giroux), this stimulating file opens several doors. The digital version is available free of charge on the publisher’s website.
