In a press release published this Tuesday morning, the SDIS explains that in the absence of significant rainfall, the drought of living vegetation continues to worsen. The analyzes of the meteorological conditions carried out each morning by the firefighters of the Côte-d’Or reveal a very severe risk “Forest fires” for the department of the Côte-d’Or.
This risk is proven the afternoon of Tuesday August 9 and the day of Wednesday August 10, 2022.
A device deployed in prevention
In order to prevent this risk, the Côte-d’Or Departmental Fire and Rescue Service is positioning three Forest Fires intervention groups on alert in the North, South and Center of the department.
Indeed, the strategy of the SDIS 21 consisting in attacking an incipient fire quickly, firefighters will be positioned in the rescue centers having a fire engine specific to the fight against forest fires.
Calls for caution
In order to prevent any outbreak of fire, it is important:
• to limit any movement in the Côte-d’Oriens forests
• organize barbecues away from vegetation, which can ignite
• to throw cigarette butts in an ashtray (and not on the ground or out of the car window)
• carry out work away from vegetation and provide a fire extinguisher close at hand or a bucket of water.
In the event of a fire outbreak:
• give the alert by calling 18 or 112, specifying if possible the location of the incident and the presence of wind
• take shelter in a building
• stay informed of the situation and listen to instructions
