From Monday January 24, a negative test is no longer enough to go to cafes, cinemas or transport. The vaccination pass has come into force and now it is possible to undergo an identity check.

In a Parisian restaurant, the transition from the health pass to the vaccination pass seems simple. From now on, it is compulsory for those over 16 in bars, restaurants, cinemas and museums. Opinions on its application are divided. “If we want to fight the pandemic, everyone has to get started,” said a passerby. “I understand those who did not necessarily want to be vaccinated but who still committed to doing tests every three days. They were still honest people”, thinks another.

Facility managers may ask for ID if in doubt about the validity of a pass. Some are reluctant to take this step. But are the passes really controlled? A journalist takes the test with a pass that is not hers and whose age is older. She can, however, consume in a café without any problem. Using a fake vaccination pass is punishable by a fine of 1,000 euros.
