“You shouldn’t say that you’re going to prepare your skin in the UV cabins, it takes more UV, so there’s more danger, it’s not protection”, she insists. As to “self-tanners don’t protect” neither. Whether to use sunscreen “is good”it is still necessary “protection indexes of at least 30 and apply it well, because we often miss places”launches Caroline Robert.

You have to “be careful all the time”

The head of the dermatology department at the Gustave Roussy Institute advises “be careful all the time” and not only between noon and 2 p.m. when exposed to the sun. “As soon as we can, we put on light but covering clothes”, she recommends. It is, according to her, useless to laze for hours in the sun to fix vitamin D. “You can get vitamin D very quickly, with not very long exposure”explains Caroline Robert.

It invites you to be extra vigilant, especially for fair-skinned or bald people who forget to protect their skull. Climate change is also likely to increase the risks: “If there is more sun, we will be more exposed. If we reduce the ozone content in the atmosphere, we have shorter and dangerous UV rays which will pass.”
