On Saturday March 2, the United States began airdrops of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. According to the UN, 2.2 million people are threatened with famine.

In Gaza, Saturday March 2, hope falls from the sky. An American plane parachuted at the start of its humanitarian aid. The hungry population rushes towards the packages which contain more than 38,000 meals. Earlier in the day, the Egyptian government also dropped shipments into the Palestinian enclave, where more than two million people are at risk of famine according to the UN. These airdrops are the only way to deliver food because the Israeli army controls all ground passage.

A truce between now and the start of Ramadan?

However, according to Oxfam, this solution is not sustainable. Added to the lack of food are saturated hospitals, where the wounded are piling up. At Al-Shifa hospital, nearly 700 people after the chaos caused by a food aid distribution which cost the lives of more than 110 civilians on Thursday.
