Quebec reports Friday 12 new deaths attributed to COVID-19 as well as a drop in hospitalizations.
There are now 1,493 hospitalizations, a decrease of 69 compared to Thursday. Fifty-one people are in intensive care, down from two.
A total of 4,810 health care workers are absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation.
The death toll now stands at 15,338.
The Ministry of Health reports 612 new cases, for a total of 1,060,657 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.
A total of 209,969 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the government platform, including 172,047 positives. For Thursday, 167 tests were reported, including 131 positive.
The Ministry of Health says it carried out 11,895 tests on Thursday and a positivity rate of 6.0%.
With regard to vaccination, 12,640 doses have been administered in the last 24 hours in Quebec.
Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 55% received a third dose and 13% received a fourth dose. Among those aged 60 and over, 40% received a fourth dose.
