Impossible to find affordable housing in Montreal: rents have doubled in the space of a few years. Moreover, around me, lots of people complain about being evicted by owners who want to take advantage of the windfall generated by a shortage created by our politicians and our business people, who don’t have to worry about to queue to visit an often dilapidated apartment which will be offered to tenants who can move in the second.
I feel great anger at those who have allowed this situation to deteriorate, which has become untenable, which is pushing some out of the city and even onto the streets. Building housing will not solve the problem, which affects a growing number of tenants. Plus, who wants to pay a full capped salary to their owners?
Stop with your unrealistic promises and lack of courage.
