Union members disrupt Fitzgibbon speech

Dozens of union members disrupted a speech by the Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Energy, Pierre Fitzgibbon, on Monday afternoon.

The demonstrators, affiliated with the CSN and the Union of Government Professionals of Quebec (SPGQ), entered a room at the Montreal convention center where more than 700 business people had come to hear Mr. Fitzgibbon.

In particular, they chanted slogans against the privatization of the health sector. They left peacefully after about twenty minutes.

Some Quebec state union members are still in negotiations with the government for the renewal of their collective agreements.
