Two white people for the weekend

Since we set the time back, it gives us the chance to sleep an hour more, which gives us the right to … open one more bottle this Saturday!

It’s a bit twisted, but it’s the outcome that’s important. Here are two pretty white wines not to be missed.

Drink less (a little more sometimes). Drink better.

I spoke to you about pairings with oysters last week, this grüner veltliner could very well have been included in my selection. A vibrant wine smelling of lime zest, green apple and honey. It’s sharp while having body. Saline finish that makes you salivate. If you like straight, dry wines, you’ll love it.

Herdade Aldeia de Cima, Reserva 2019, Alentejo, Portugal
$ 30.00 – Code SAQ 14729708 – 13.5% – 2.3 g / L

It’s the discovery of the week. A Portuguese white made mostly of arinto and alvarinho with a little antao vaz, local grape varieties that all begin with the letter “a”. It can’t be invented, right? Joking aside, the wine amazes with its scents of jasmine, peach, paraffin and flower. The texture on the palate is both velvety and delicate with a fine acidity that enhances the whole. We would have liked barely more length, but we are already satisfied. Add a few seared scallops and it deserves an “A”!

★★★ – $$ 1⁄2
