Two Givors municipal police cars were set on fire in the Rhône on Saturday April 27. Around thirty people participated in these incidents and fired mortars.
Around thirty hooded people gathered on the evening of Saturday April 27 in the center of Givors (Rhône). The group set trash cans on fire and fired mortars, before attacking two municipal police vehicles. The mayor of the commune, Mohamed Boudjellaba (DGD and EELV), says he “upset, angry, with everything we do for young people. And today, a handful of individuals are carrying out abuses in the city. I do not tolerate it and it is unbearable for me.”
Understaffed police officers
Four fire trucks intervened to put out the fires and several national police and BAC units were called in for reinforcements, in particular to compensate for understaffed personnel. These incidents appear to be a response to the arrest of four young minors on Saturday afternoon following the attack on a 14-year-old boy.
