Two people fall under the bullets in broad daylight in Montreal

Two shootings claimed as many victims in broad daylight, Tuesday afternoon, in Montreal. A first, around 12:55 p.m., took place in the parking lot of the Rockland shopping center, in Mount Royal, then a second, on the terrace of a restaurant in the Latin Quarter, around 1:30 p.m. The suspects fled .

The first victim is a 44-year-old man whose identity has still not been confirmed by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). The second victim is believed to be a man in his 50s. He would have received a projectile in the “upper body”, while he was seated at the restaurant Pizzeria Napoli, on rue Saint-Denis, near boulevard de Maisonneuve.

Both men were taken to hospital. “We fear for their lives,” says the SPVM. It is not yet known if these shootings are connected.

Security perimeters have been established around the two crime scenes, and investigations are ongoing. The SPVM also specifies that the videos of the surveillance cameras of the surrounding businesses will be studied to better understand the course of the events.

“The SPVM is hard at work in the affected sectors to reassure citizens and conduct the investigation. All the necessary resources are in place to shed light on these crimes, ”said Valérie Plante, the mayor of Montreal, on Twitter.
