Two men were shot dead on Sunday May 5 in Sevran, less than 48 hours after a shooting linked to drug trafficking which left one dead and several seriously injured in this town of Seine-Saint-Denis, France Télévisions learned from police sources and judicial. The two victims were aged 31 and 35, announced Paris police prefect Laurent Nunez during a trip to the site.
For the moment, the prosecution is making no connection between Friday’s shooting and these new shots, even if it is a hypothesis given the context. The criminal brigade will be contacted to shed light on this chain of violence. “We have good reasons to believe that the facts of this [dimanche] evening are not completely unrelated to drug trafficking”detailed the Paris police prefect, who nevertheless specifies that“we must be extremely cautious about whether this case may have a link” with this first shooting and with another homicide on Wednesday in Aulnay, underlines the police prefect. “No connection has been established between all these cases.”
An “XXL clean spot” anti-drug operation in March
During the night from Friday to Saturday, a 28-year-old man had already been killed and four others injured during a shooting in the Cité des Beaudottes, an emblematic district of this poor town in the northern suburbs of Paris. Three other gunshot wounds also showed up at the hospital later that night. “It’s inevitably a settling of scores linked to drug trafficking”, reacted Stéphane Blanchet, DVG mayor of the city. He had castigated a “parallel economy that must be attacked with appropriate means”.
On site, 25 7.62 cartridge cases, a caliber used in particular for Kalashnikov-type weapons, were found. After Marseille, Sevran was the subject of an anti-drug operation “XXL square net” on March 25 with the aim of stopping trafficking. In this city, the deal point of the Rougemont city had been “eradicated”assured the police headquarters.
