The outcome seems written in advance. The 13th stage of the Giro between Riccione and Cento should hardly escape the sprinters, Friday May 17. The day after Julian Alaphilippe’s victory, the peloton will cross the ultra-flat plains of Emilia-Romagna. A straight line of more than 70 kilometers awaits the runners to begin this 179 kilometer long stage, with a passage through the streets of Rimini, where Marco Pantani died twenty years ago.
Already winner of two stages, the Italian Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) will have the opportunity to consolidate his cyclamen jersey as best sprinter. Tim Merlier (Soudal-Quick Step) and Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck) are the other two main favorites for victory in the event of a sprint finish.
