two men arrested for tagging the building of the newspaper “Le Figaro” in Paris

Two individuals of Moldovan nationality were arrested on Thursday June 20, around 2 a.m., in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, for tags supporting Ukraine, franceinfo learned from the Paris prosecutor’s office. The two suspects wrote the slogans half a dozen times using stencils “Stop Death Now” And “Mriya. Ukraine”with a coffin design.

According to a police source, the tags were made on the building which houses the newspaper Le Figaro, and during their arrest, questioned about their motivations, the two suspects declared that they had been paid 100 euros each to make these tags. They are being prosecuted for damage in a meeting and criminal conspiracy.

Other tags supporting Ukraine have been discovered in recent days in the 2nd, 5th and 9th arrondissements of Paris, recalled the prosecution. They were also made using a stencil and spray paint, and depict a coffin-shaped fighter plane with the inscription “Mirages for Ukraine”. An investigation into “degradations during meetings and criminal conspiracy” has been opened.

As a reminder, on the night of June 6 to 7, tags representing coffins with the words “French soldiers in Ukraine” had been painted in the 7th arrondissement. Three Moldovans were arrested the following night, then indicted for slight damage in a meeting, and placed under the status of assisted witness for participation in a criminal association. They were left free.
