Two dead following a fire in British Columbia

Two people died following a fire shortly before 4:30 p.m. Friday at a home near Comox, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

According to Jim Lariviere, assistant chief of the Comox Fire Department, a man and a woman were found dead in the rubble of a property in a small rural town near Comox.

The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation, he also explained, although it would be considered accidental, for the moment.

“We saw the whole back of the house burning, and it was when we did our research that we found the bodies,” the firefighter told the Times Colonist.

He also mentioned that the firefighters had no difficulty in controlling the fire, which is believed to have originated at the rear. “We had no difficulty getting in.” The house was completely on fire when firefighters arrived.

The identity of the victims has still not been released.

No other people were injured as a result of the fire.
