Two ceps markets are closing in the Dordogne, a third is full

The ceps are in the south, I repeat, the ceps are in the south! The Villefranche-du-Périgord market was full this Saturday, October 22, with about 400 kg of porcini mushrooms brought. It has been open since Monday and the start of growth in the south of the department, it will reopen this Sunday at 3 p.m. and probably again on Monday.

On the other hand, in the north of the department, the growth is running out of steam. Only 170 kg were brought to the Saint-Saud-Lacoussière market on Saturday, the first market to have opened in the Dordogne this season. It will now remain closed until further notice.

Monpazier still has not opened

Similar to Mussidan, where only 25 kg were brought on Saturday, already reserved by buyers who came expressly from Bordeaux. No permanent closure, but the organizers are waiting to see if the weather becomes milder.

In Monpazier, the market has still not opened this season. Although located quite close to Villefranche, the rainfall has been less favorable there and even if some contributors have come to sell their finds in the town this weekend, there is not enough growth to open the market.
