Without an appointment

Original and deliciously transgressive, this comedy by Marie-Andrée Labbé (Too much) with Magalie Lépine-Blondeau tells the tribulations of the employees of a sexual health clinic in Montreal. This adaptation of an Australian web series should serve as a model for broadcasters who want to show diversity organically on screen, without feeling that there were boxes to tick.

Lou and Sophie

One of the most beautiful surprises of 2021, signed by Yannick Éthier (The cottage, The academy). You don’t have to be a “young adult” to appreciate this Thelma and Louise new generation, which offers performances inspired by Jade Charbonneau and Zeneb Blanchet. In front of the lens of directors Sandra Coppola and Félix Tétreault, these rising actresses encamp two rebellious teenagers who live a story of close friendship.

Reasonable doubt

Fans of Fortier and D’unbelievable on Netflix, you will love this crime thriller by Danielle Dansereau (19-2). It’s creepy, dark and twisted. We follow detective Alice Martin Sommer (Julie Perreault), who works for a special squad dedicated to sex crimes. Pay close attention to details. Everything is important.

Plan B, season 3

It is not for nothing that Plan B systematically wins the Gemini for best drama series and is exported to Europe. It is a brilliant, moving, sometimes very harsh production. The third season of Plan B is not a police show per se. It’s a psychological drama about an injured woman trying to mend others in order to mend herself. It is obvious that Anne-Élisabeth Bossé will be selected for the Gemini Awards for this role of a complex woman.

The persuit

The persuit brings together numerous testimonies from patrollers, investigators and even a profiler, in addition to visiting victims still traumatized by Neverson’s violent acts. It feels like the job of District 31, but in real life.

After

After the excellent Black beast, we doubted that a second series about a mass killing could grab us so much in 2021. Error. Showing a new facet of Karine Vanasse’s talent as an actress, this six-episode drama by author François Pagé paints a portrait of a small community in the Laurentians struck by horror.

Fork, season 3

Just the word that describes a woman who has never given birth is frightfully ugly: nulliparous. In the third and final season of the excellent and relevant series Fork, the author and actress Sarah-Maude Beauchesne tackles this delicate subject head-on, without evasiveness.
