From August 28 to September 8, ICI Télé will present the Paralympic Games. The opening ceremony will air on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Conceived by Thomas Jolly, the director behind the famous Paris Olympics ceremony, the major event should be “inclusive” and “festive,” according to the organizing committee. As for the competitions, anchors Geneviève Tardif and Kéven Breton will present them every day, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. They will be able to count on Benoit Huot, Roseline Filion and Jean St-Onge, who will be on hand to gather the athletes’ reactions. A delegation of 126 athletes will represent Canada.

When it was presented at the Centre du théâtre d’Aujourd’hui in Montreal in the spring of 2022, the stage documentary by Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette and Émile Proulx-Cloutier enchanted our colleague Stéphanie Morin, who titled her review “Une grande dose d’humanité”. It was also named show of the year 2021-2022 by the Association québécoise des critiques de théâtre. This summer, Télé-Québec is broadcasting its television adaptation. Produced by Pixcom and directed by Guillaume Lonergan (Audrey is back), the 90-minute show offers excerpts from unfiltered interviews with eight ordinary people who are seemingly disparate but whose destinies are closely linked: Dominic, Elisabeth, Eva, Jérôme, Quentin, Réal, Sylvain and Yaëlle.

Télé-Québec, Sunday at 8 p.m. (repeat the next day at 9 p.m.)

Cameron Diaz

This “romantic” comedy by the Farrelly brothers (Dumb and Dumber, Shallow Hal) had put off several critics when it was released in 1998. “In bad taste,” wrote Entertainment Weekly. Twenty-six years later, our opinion of the film hasn’t really changed. Yes, it’s crude, nonsensical, and slightly too long. But it’s fiercely funny. The feature’s anthology scenes (when Ben Stiller zips his pants a little too quickly, when Cameron Diaz finds “hair gel”…) are still as effective as ever. You’ve probably noticed that we haven’t talked about the screenplay yet. That’s no coincidence. It doesn’t matter!

The hen started its 32e season last weekend. Major change behind the scenes: the show is now produced externally, as are two other events that previously came directly from the TVA Group: The cheater And Vlog. The broadcaster has stopped producing entertainment shows to reduce costs. Now designed by Fair-Play (Revolution, 100 geniuses) in collaboration with Quebecor Content, the game has retained its curious power of attraction. Sébastien Benoit (who will also host Masked singers) and Julie Houle have taken over the show, with Richard Turcotte (who will replace Ève-Marie Lortie as host of Hello good morning weekend in two weeks).

VAT, Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
