The Senators have the upper hand over the Bruins
The Ottawa Senators provided plenty of entertainment in their first home game on Tuesday following a 7-5 win over the Boston Bruins.
Mark Kastelic’s first goal of the season, scored in the second half, was the decisive goal, but the party started long before the start of the game.
The celebrations began thanks to former Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson, who conducted the ceremonial face-off. The crowd ignited and the noise grew when new local star Claude Giroux opened the scoring in the opening minutes of the game.
All four lines have contributed to the success of the Senators. Brady Tkachuk, Drake Batherson and Tim Stutzle each scored a goal and had two assists. Shane Pinto and Artem Zub also hit the target for the Senators (1-2-0).
Going into the game, the Senators had scored just three goals in its first two games. Anton Forsberg stopped 26 shots.
David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron provided the response for the Bruins (3-1-0) with one goal and two assists each. David Krejci, Nick Foligno and AJ Greer also flashed the red light. Jeremy Swayman made 26 saves.
