Trois-Rivières Grand Prix | Freddie Hunt and Jacques Villeneuve in the footsteps of their famous father

Those present that year who can still testify to it today say it: the 1976 edition of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières was one of the best in its long history. Because a young Gilles Villeneuve beat in Formula Atlantic, that day, Formula 1 drivers such as Alan Jones (second) and James Hunt (third), future world champions. Forty-six years later, the Villeneuve and Hunt sons are somehow following in their father’s footsteps, as they find themselves at the GP3R at the same time.

Freddie Hunt, 35, will this weekend receive the honor of being inducted into the Friends of the Grand Prix Hall of Fame for his late father. It may seem surprising, James Hunt having only set foot on Trois-Rivières soil once. But it was during this unique presence that he changed the fate of the Villeneuve clan. Hence his induction.
