Five days before the second round of early legislative elections on Sunday, July 7, the balance of power is becoming clearer in the 501 constituencies where a candidate was not elected in the first round of voting. The 1,318 qualified candidates had until Tuesday, July 2 in the evening to submit their candidacies. Some 224 candidates for deputy have chosen to withdraw. According to our count, 211 of them did so in order to block the National Rally or its allies in Ciott.

The number of triangular races, which had reached a record level after the first round, has consequently fallen from 306 to 89, a figure which nevertheless remains historically high. The number of duels has logically increased, from 190 to 409. There are also two quadrangular races and one constituency (the 2nd in Guyana) where only one candidate is in the running for the second round.
