Today’s launch of a second call for proposals for the tramway illustrates the fact that “we have never gone so far in the past with respect to this megaproject”, welcomed Bruno Marchand.
This is what the mayor of Quebec announced Tuesday afternoon during an impromptu press.
Two weeks after the call for proposals for the rolling stock, the municipality therefore published today the other call for proposals for the “infrastructure” component of the project.

“There are interesting gains there, but we are far from being at our destination”, he pointed out while affirming that the citizen consultations will continue for the insertion of the tram in the various districts crossed by the 19.3 km route. “We want to get the pulse of the population, he repeated. It’s only a beginning.”
Asked whether the City of Quebec has other “shared streets” projects in its pipeline, Mr. Marchand did not rule out this scenario which gives pride of place to the tramway and which limits the speed and space of cars. “We have not completed the reference design in the Limoilou sector. This sector which goes to Estimauville is new”, he recalled.
