The government wants to set up a filter system against scams by email and SMS. How would this system work? Response elements.
A parcel to frank, a vital card to renew, a fine to pay… Who has never received this kind of message by email or SMS? “The vital card, once, I received. I quickly understood that it was a scam. I did not do it”, indicates a woman. A man asserts: “I don’t open them. I delete them right away.” If you click on the link, you land on a fraudulent site and you risk a lot. To fight against these scams, the government wants to set up a filter system.
A fallible blacklist
Each time a user arrives at a risky site, an alert will be displayed. “It will be a bulwark against fake SMS scams”, said Jean-Noël Barrot on Franceinfo, last February. This filter system will work on the basis of a blacklist of sites identified as malicious. According to an expert, hackers will always find solutions. Jacques Henno, a specialist in new technologies, explains: “From the moment cyber-hackers create a new site, the blacklist is obsolete.” Against these scams, the only thing to do is never open the links and go to the official sites of the organizations.
