Tour de France 2022: the route of the 17th stage from Saint-Gaudens to Peyragudes

The Tour de France 2022 peloton will leave Saint-Gaudens, in Haute-Garonne this Wednesday July 20, towards Peyragudes, in the Hautes-Pyrénées. This 17th stage of the Tour de France, 130 kilometers long, has four climbs, three of which are category 1 and an opportunity for the Green Jersey to distinguish itself with a sprint at the start of the stage.

Terminus of this stage: altiport 007, built for filming the james bond movie “Tomorrow never dies”, in 1997. This 16% slope had already seen Romain Bardet win in 2017, ahead of Chris Froome.

On the menu for this 130 kilometer long stage, a sprint and four hills : the sprint of La Barthe-de-Neste, the Col d’Aspin at an altitude of 1,490 m over 12 km at 6.5% (category 1), the Côte des Cammazes at an altitude of 1,564 m over 8.2 km at 5.1% (category 2), the Col de Val Louron-Azet at an altitude of 1,580 m over 10.7 km at 6.8% (category 1) and Peyragudes at an altitude of 1,580 m over 8 km at 7.8% (category 1).

According to Christian Prudhomme, the director of the Tour de France, “there will be Pyrenees mirroring the Alps, with two finishes at the summit, two dense short stages 130 to 140 km with several passes, a finish at Peyragudes on the altiport, it’s very steep. Chris Froome had been in trouble, in 2017, Romain Bardet had won.”
