The Tour de France peloton sets off this Saturday for the first collective stage after the surprise victory of Belgian Yves Lampaert (Quick-Step) this Friday in the time trial. The runners will pedal 202km between Roskilde, former capital of Denmark and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Nyborg. The route promises to be perilous with 18km on the bridge linking the island of Seeland to that of Funen, above the Baltic Sea. A portion that could generate edges in the event of wind and create gaps from the second day of the Tour. The finish will be at Nyborg and its famous medieval castle.

11:33 a.m. – A little word about the winner of the day before, anyone? Yves Lampaert, 31 yearsnicknamed “John Deere” because he has a big engine that has already allowed him to win in races against the clock, but also because this farmer’s son is a fan of this brand of tractor. Before coming to cycling at 17, the 57th Belgian to wear the yellow jersey since the creation of the Tour had started with the tatami mats. Black judo belt, he was also Belgian champion “in 2004 or 2005”, he explained to RTBF. It is perhaps from this first life in the dojos that he got his rolling reflex to get up without damage after his spectacular fall in the Paris-Roubaix final in April.
