(Toronto) The Toronto Maple Leafs have granted an eight-year contract extension to defenseman Morgan Rielly. The veteran will pocket a total of 60 million, for an average annual salary of 7.5 million.
The 27-year-old veteran is currently the player with the most seniority with the Maple Leafs. The organization drafted him fifth in the 2012 auction. He has held the title of assistant captain since 2016.
Rielly has collected four assists in eight games since the start of the season. In his career, he has scored 59 goals and had 250 assists in 580 regular season games. He added four goals and 15 assists in 32 playoff games.
