Toronto Blue Jays | Ex-manager Don Mattingly joins the instructors

The Toronto Blue Jays have hired Don Mattingly, who will become the bench coach under manager John Schneider.

Mattingly previously served as manager of the Miami Marlins for seven seasons and manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers for five more.

He was named the most valuable manager of the National League in 2020, with the Marlins.

Mattingly, 61, spent his 14 career major league seasons with the New York Yankees and appeared in the All-Star Game six times.

Blue Jays interim bench coach Casey Candaele will return to the Blue Jays’ AAA farm in Buffalo as manager next season.

The team plans to unveil its entire coaching staff for the 2023 season within weeks.
