TOHU 2024-2025 Season | The 7 Fingers to Close the Loop

To celebrate its 20the anniversary, TOHU has programmed seven acrobatic pieces created by companies from here, but also from Belgium, Australia, France and Mozambique. Some creations, several revivals and, of course, the traditional show of graduates of the National Circus School of Montreal.

The event

Duel Reality

This 7 Fingers show was created for the Virgin Group’s first cruise ship in 2019. Acrobatic reinterpretation of Romeo and Julietthe production of Duel Reality was unfortunately suspended during the pandemic before being reborn as a theatrical show and embarking on an American tour. The 7 Fingers play, directed by Shana Carroll (Traces, Passengers, My island, my heart) will be presented at the TOHU in bifrontal mode (the audience facing each other) as in the original marine creation. This production of 7 Doigts marks not only the 20th anniversary of the TOHU, but also that of the company, which presented its first show in 2004, Loftin these circular walls of the metropolis.

From October 16 to November 17

The show Maputo-Mozambique is one of TOHU’s most intriguing productions this season.

We are intrigued

Maputo-Mozambique

We are told that this show by the Thomas Guérineau Company was created following a juggling workshop organized in 2011 in Mozambique, with the aim of training young artists. But there you have it, this show at the crossroads of juggling, singing and percussion seems to have been a victim of its success since it has been touring all over the world since. “Dance improvisations, juggling of balls or plastic bags, rebounds on percussion and other manipulations of rhombuses create sound, body and plastic images as spectacular as they are unusual”, writes TOHU in its presentation text. Intriguing.

From February 19 to 23, 2025

Xavier Bouvier and Benoît Devos presented HA HA HA at TOHU 13 years ago. They will be back during the holidays.

And also

HA HA HA

Among the covers programmed by the TOHU team, this one catches our attention: HA HA HA. Created in 2001 by the Okidok company, formed by Belgians Xavier Bouvier and Benoît Devos, this clownish piece has already been presented here twice: in 2006 and during the winter festivities of 2011. This duo, which we discovered with Slips Insideform a delirious pair. With HA HA HAthese two hyper-endearing clown-acrobats offer us a theatrical show that is both poetic and totally absurd, which essentially focuses on their friendly relationship. If you have never seen them on stage before, make sure not to miss them this time.

From December 18 to January 5, 2025
