The President of the Republic announced a salary increase for teachers, during a trip to Hérault, Thursday, April 20. They vary between 100 and 500 euros net per month depending on the profiles and will be effective from the start of the school year in September 2023.

To finance these wage increases, “we will save money elsewhere, we choose our priorities”assures on franceinfo, Céline Calvez, Renaissance deputy for Hauts-de-Seine, member of the Commission for Cultural Affairs and Education.

It will therefore be 100 euros net per month for all teachers. Up to 230 euros net per month “for teachers at the start of their career thanks to the revaluation of the attractiveness bonus”. And up to 500 euros net per month for “early career teachers benefiting from the salary increase” and that “engage in three complementary missions”says the Ministry of National Education

“These wage increases have already started. Between 2017 and 2022, we have already spent 2.7 billion euros on increasing compensation wages, especially for those entering the career.”

“It is not subject to conditions, which means that both teachers at the start of their career and at the three quarters of their career will be able to benefit from this net contribution. Which represents a substantial commitment both at the level individual for each teacher, but also at the level of what we want to invest in teaching.”

With these increases, the idea is “to be able to propose a better way of recognizing missions that are already carried out by teachers and of proposing new ones. These missions are replacements, personalized support, participation in the implementation of a project”explained Céline Calvez.
